Dearwood S Dakota

The entrance to Deadwood

Deadwood Main Street...casinos, bars shops & brothels...lots of cowboys and cowgirls
Trying to make some money while the stock market tanks!!! This didn't work either...

While we were in Salon 10 (where Wild Bill Hickok was shot by Jack McCall) Rod was asked to play the role of the bartender...

Rod eating pickled herring & olives
This was our camp site in a really nice RV Resort in Deadwood...in the morning Nancy encountered deer while walking dusty

We are in S Dakota.......Yeah!

Here is the S. Dakota Corn Palace...the outside is covered in ears of corn and plants pretty corny!
But cool..

Each year the theme is changed and new corn applied

Even the interior murals are made with ears of corn

Here we are about to cross the Missouri River

Here we are at the entrance of the Bad Lands Loop Drive

We saw some antelope and mule deer

The lovely tourist couple at an over look

I climbed out on one of the ledges ...it was pretty far down to the bottom....Rod living on the edge!
It kind of looks like another planet here..it went on for miles

Then on the other side of the highway was open plains and grass...very strange

Snakes!

A beautiful sunset shared with a Mt Goat about 12 were sitting on a ledge along the roadway

We spent the night in Wall S Dakota and did the sights in the morning...
I rode the wild horse
and the giant Jackalope!
We hung with the locals

A few bugs on the truck camper

Here is Nancy & I out on a date...we went to hear a Dan Fogelberg tribute which was very good..(Nancy ditched the knitting girls to meet me for a date!)

This is a 4 point buck a I saw a couple of mornings when out on the road to a fishing spot...

This is from Peninsula Point Park shore line and then light house

This from Newport Beach on the northern tip of Door County...very secluded with lots of walking trails..
This is Kangaroo Lake....

Here is shot of Gloria from Twin Cities Minn..this was her 1st Knitting Camp experience...and she got some trout to take home...next year more husbands may come!! In the back ground you can see the cabins the knitters live in while at camp....I visited a few times for dinner and conversation....all you could hear was chattering and needle clicking like crazy...

Door County Fishing Part 2

Today we fished the same area and caught this "Golden Rainbow Trout" along w/these others..I have it frozen and may have it mounted and will check on origin....most golden trout are brook or browns and live in higher altitude waters......no one in the area knew about this fish....

Here is my 1st days catch....nice I gave some to Nancy's knitting group ladies to take home....

This is a fish boil...where they boil the big tub of water on an open fire...place a bin of potatoes..then bin of onions...then bin of "white fish" from Lake Mich,,,,then just as it is done they pour kerosene on the fire to make the water boil over the fish fat and then its done...I will try this method this summer at camp....
