Today from Ten Sleeps to Dubios via Thermopolis Hot Springs

Today we leave the town of Ten Sleep and head to Thermopolis to check out the hot springs and then off to Dubois for the night.

Here is a picture of the plains and hills along Rte 16

A nice river we are starting to see some rivers and even small lakes along the route
Lots of fishing signs

Dusty has been enjoying the trip as well...here he is checking out the view

We have arrived in Thermopolis ...we toured the springs (temps 127-129) the park and walked (Nancy too) across a swinging bridge...

We made a lunch and ate in the park...the springs are mineral (lots of sulfur) w/pretty intense smell...but you quickly get over it....

A view from the top of this Hot Springs Park

Free roaming herd of wild buffalo

Here is the swinging bridge

Today's temp was a high of 82 but we just heard on tv that it might snow in Jackson & Yellowstone where we are headed!!!

The happy campers...on a board walk over the springs ...again the water temps were 127-129 degrees

Nancy & Dusty checking out the minerals

Here the spring flows into the Wind river...the water stays warm here all year and the fishing is supposed to e pretty good for trout...we have not fished yet,,,,

This is the state run spa..it was free (yeah) and it had an indoor and outdoor pool...the temps in the pools were 104 (the intake pipe flowed 116)...we met lots of "soakers" from all over that claimed all sorts of cures from the healing mineral waters...all we know is it felt really good and they had really clean showers to rinse off.

A few more scenes along the way

Some grazing mustangs....how about those hills.......

This has to be our best photo yet...as you drive up/down around the hills and plains the light changes and then as it sets lower it even gets better...we had a small shower and then a double rainbow...

We leave in the AM heading to Jackson (Town of Wilson) to visit our friend Doug's brother (Andrew) & sister in law (Nancy) for a few days and then hope to head into Yellowstone (weather permitting).
We hope you are enjoying this blog.
